The Wood Casket

The wood casket can be found in a large variety of hardwoods and plain woods. It is remarkable to see what woods are now being used to create caskets.

Some of the hardwoods that can be found to create caskets are; oak, cherry, mahogany, walnut and even poplar. Each of these woods can be stained or treated to bring out the colors of the woods for a more vibrant appearance depending on what the shopper is looking for in a casket.

Depending on the type of wood used in creating a casket the cost will vary. This is because of the amount of work it will take a manufacturer to create a casket.

Oak, being one of the hardest woods to work with actually may require specialized tools to use in order to cut the wood properly, this brings up the cost of the casket.

Certain types of poplar actually have a hard time taking stains thus making it more difficult on the manufacturer to find stains that will work. Some stains to be used on this wood could be costly to the manufacturer. As many know this will drive up the cost when the casket makes it to the funeral home.
