The Steel CasketA steel casket is frequently the choice of those who need to have a loved one’s body encased for burial. Non-Jewish families will choose this particular material, as opposed to Jewish families, which would most likely choose wood instead. The exterior of the casket can be given different kinds of attractive finishes, such as cherry, bronze, almond, white, gold, copper, rose, hyacinth, beige, and more. The interior is usually lined with crepe or velvet of various soft shades or pastels, such as pink or light blue, and there are handles for the pallbearers to use while carrying the container. Some of these caskets also have snap locks, adjustable beds, rubber gaskets, hidden locking mechanisms to protect the contents from damage from the elements, and other features. These kinds of caskets generally range from $1000 to $2000 or more. Of course, an adult’s casket would cost more than one made for a child or for an infant. Some are made in the USA, while others are imported. Stainless steel is yet another option, and this type of casket has a finer finish and costs a few thousand dollars or more, making it somewhat less affordable for most people. These would usually be offered in ebony, silver, or gold. |
