The Mahogany Casket

The mahogany casket can be a good investment for the person looking for a wooden casket with more durability than the more traditional woods. However, it is not a recommended material for those looking for a purely “green” burial method.

This wood has traditionally been used for things that have needed to be strong and long lasting. For instance many times drums are made from mahogany because of its superior strength and their need for withstanding large amounts of pressure. The great feature of this wood is its durability. Many find that this type of material will outlast many of the traditional woods used.

Inside will usually be a silk or cotton filled lining with a nice subtle color to set off the mahogany outer shell.

Interesting fact

This wood is usually found in South America and is later shipped to one of the large manufacturers of caskets in the United States.
