Cemetery Flowers

For those who grieve, cemetery flowers can provide a way to show their love and respect for those who have died. They provide a visible reminder of heartfelt emotions.

Flowers are used as expressions of love at many times throughout our lives. For example, flowers are a common element of courtship. From a simple spring bouquet to say, “I like you,” to the lavish collection of roses that are sometimes part of a proposal or anniversary celebration, flowers show romantic love. They also show the love of family and friends, and they’re giving on many occasions—as a celebration, a “thank you” or simply to say, “I’m thinking about you.”

It seems appropriate then, that we would want to express those same emotions to those who have died. Flowers allow us to show those who have died that we still remember and care about them. Their show of love and remembrance brightens the graves of those we love.

The act of placing flowers on a grave can also allow a mourner to connect with their lost loved one. It is an act of service: beautifying the deceased’s final resting place. Although cemeteries can sometimes be gloomy places, flowers make them brighter. They’re a celebration of the lives and love of the people we remember.
