BurialBurial is one of the most common ways to honor the dead. This process has been around for centuries and can be done with both humans and animals. It is simply the practice of placing the deceased into the ground. To accomplish the practice, a hole is dug in the ground deep enough for the body to be placed. Once the body is placed in the ground, it is covered with the dirt from the ground. Placing a body into the ground is a sacred and respective practice. It is often accomplished at organized, traditional services, such as funerals. However, it is also done during less organized situations, such as when a child places his beloved pet into the ground. A body that is placed in the ground during a funeral is usually placed inside a casket or urn first. Whereas, a child who places his dead pet in the ground may place the pet in a shoe box or something similar first. Placing a body in the ground when it has died prevents it from being exposed to the elements and keeps it away from scavengers, such as birds and bugs. Protecting a dead body from this exposure is also a sign of respect. For more detailed information, follow the links below. Move From The Burial Process Back To Funeral Planning Online Home. |
